The Sheela Basrur Centre, honours the legacy of the late Dr. Sheela Basrur, Ontario’s former Chief Medical Officer of Health and an outstanding leader in the field of public health. The Centre offers training, education programs and special events focusing on enhancing the communication and leadership skills of existing and emerging public health professionals.

This year will mark the tenth year anniversary of the Sheela Basrur Centre. To commemorate this milestone, we honour Dr. Basrur’s vision and contributions to public health. Please join us in marking this achievement by making a donation to the Sheela Basrur Centre. 

 

 

 

SBC @ TOPHC

The Sheela Basrur Centre (SBC) recognition ceremony and lecture will kick-off The Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC).  

Here’s what you can expect from SBC this year:
SBC recognition ceremony and lecture: March 21, 2018.
SBC is committed to supporting current and future public health leaders, providing education opportunities and training for professionals and students.
This year’s award recipients will be honoured during the SBC recognition ceremony, including:
Don Low Communications Fellowship: Supports public health professionals in the development of communications skills by empowering them with the necessary tools to clearly communicate to role and achievements of public health.
Student Travel Bursary*: Contributes to a better understanding of public health within different areas of the world by supporting students in their travel placements.
We are seeking applicants for the 2018 SBC Student Travel Bursary Award competition. Details will be posted on the SBC website in January 2018. 
 

 

 

 

 

SBC Lecture and Pathway

This year’s SBC lecture will be focused on: Promoting Truth and Reconciliation in Public Health
SBC educational pathway: TOPHC also features the SBC educational pathway — a series of presentations and sessions dedicated to leadership and communications in public health.
