TOPHC presenter consent form

The Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) would like to make PDF copies of the convention presentation materials available online following the convention.   The purpose of posting these presentations on the TOPHC website is to allow continued update and use of the information that was presented. The materials will be left on the website for a period of approximately 1 year (until March 31, 2013) and then archived.  An additional benefit is that presenters can cite their work in their CV via this linkage.

Room Setup & Capacity

At the beginning of each day, TOPHC staff and volunteers check session meeting rooms to ensure the proper set-up and room equipment. If you encounter any technical issues and/or require assistance, please feel free to flag down a TOPHC volunteer, who will gladly contact an AV technician.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations are scheduled for Tuesday, April 3rd from 1:00pm-1:30pm.  Posters have been clustered into five tours: Issues in Environmental Health Tour, New Developments in Immunization Tour, Infectious Diseases Tour, Meeting the Needs of Special Populations Tour and Enhancing Tools for Public Health Practice Tour.  Poster presenters will be given 3 minutes to present, followed by 1.5 minutes of questions.  Each tour has a poster presenter lead that will ensure all presenters are running on time.

The posters are 4’ x 8’ and can be set-up as early as the morning of Monday, April 2nd.  While it is not required, we encourage presenters to stand by their poster during the coffee break in the morning sessions for about 5-10 minutes if they can. We also advise having your e-mail on the poster, leaving copies of your business card, or having a post-it note with your contact information on the poster. This way, people know how to contact you after the session.

Keep the Session on Time

It is important to start the session on time. Encourage presenters to allow ample time for questions and discussion. Sessions must end on time to allow for delegates to move to the next session and to keep the entire convention running in a timely manner.

Stimulate Discussion

Discussion is an important part of learning experiences. If questions or comments from the attendees seem a little slow in starting, please be prepared to stimulate discussion.
