The Ontario Public Health Convention’s steering committee has set a goal of implementing as many green initiatives as possible for TOPHC by reducing the event’s environmental footprint, in part, by limiting the materials that are printed and distributed and printing the  program guide  on recycled paper.

Committee members have worked with the venues to ensure that food and beverages are served in environmentally responsible containers, and using recycled and/or compostable materials when possible. In addition, the steering committee has decided to limit giveaway items and has chosen functional, environmentally friendly products.

The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, the official venue for TOPHC 2012 and 2013, has met our criteria for being a green hotel by being the recipient of a 4 (out of 5) Green Key Rating based on the Corporate Environmental Management section of the Green Key Audit. To read more about the Sheraton's green initiatives, visit the hotel’s website.

The committee would like to encourage delegates to consider reducing the environmental impact of their travel by taking advantage of our VIA Rail discounted rate, carpooling, and using public transit such as the TTC and GO Train.
